Position Summary:

  • Cook: Responsible for preparing and serving food, including texture-modified and therapeutic diets, in accordance with facility menus and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The Cook helps ensure quality dining services as directed by the Dining Services Director, follows proper procedures for receiving, storage, preparation, and cleaning, and may assist the Dietary Aide in the absence of the Director.
  • Safety: Utilize protective gear in all relevant tasks, mix and use cleaning solutions safely, promptly report equipment or supply needs to supervisors, and adhere to established safety and quality guidelines.
  • Punctuality: Maintain consistent attendance, arrive punctually, complete assigned tasks according to schedule, and respond swiftly to paging.
  • Customer Experience: Represent HCSG positively by being courteous and cooperative with supervisors, colleagues, and client staff.
  • Resident Experience: Maintain positive, pleasant interactions with residents, staff, and facility guests.

Qualifications:

  • Exhibit a positive attitude and the ability to follow oral and written instructions while performing routine, repetitive tasks.
  • After completing training, effectively utilize leadership skills to fulfill responsibilities independently, without injury.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred; experience in food preparation is also beneficial. Completion of an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
  • Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification as required by state or county regulations.
  • Must be punctual and consistently adhere to work schedule.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination requirements as directed by state, local, and/or customers.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, push/pull up to 50 pounds, and stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
  • Capable of performing routine, repetitive tasks continuously.
  • Must be comfortable working around food and cleaning products.
  • Residing within the service area is mandatory.
