Job description:

Partners with the Sales Office to facilitate group event bookings adhering to specified parameters. Provides property support by coordinating and executing site inspections and visits for off-property sales managers. Ensures that business transactions are properly and promptly turned over to guarantee quality service delivery. Maximizes group revenue goals by actively up-selling each business opportunity. Implements the brand’s service strategies and relevant initiatives throughout the sales process to drive customer loyalty and deliver service excellence.

Candidate Profile

Education and Experience

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED; at least four years of experience in sales and marketing, guest services, front desk operations, or a related professional area.
  • Alternatively, a two-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related field, along with a minimum of two years of experience in sales and marketing or a related professional area.

Preferred:

  • Experience in large group sales.

Managing Sales Activities

  • Drives revenue goals by effectively pulling through business opportunities booked via the Sales Office.
  • Collaborates with Area Sales to identify new group and catering business, achieving personal and property revenue objectives.
  • Coordinates and books group events in alignment with established group booking guidelines.
  • Proactively up-sells products and services, demonstrating capability to close sales.
  • Engages in selling all facilities, including Spa, Golf, and Restaurants, to leisure guests and group planners alike.
  • Assists with the implementation and follow-through of group sales promotions.
  • Provides insights to the Sales Office and Area Sales representatives regarding potential reallocation of function space.
  • Manages the event planning process for pre-booked business extending up to three years in advance.
  • Coordinates and plans all Familiarization Tours (FAM) and in-market customer events.
  • Ensures accurate and efficient knowledge transfer to Event Management.
  • Represents the sales department in staff meetings, providing updates on sales activities.
  • Attends pre- and post-convention meetings to grasp group requirements and gather feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Coordinates and executes site inspections and visits on property for out-of-market and non-deployed accounts.
  • Collaborates with in-market sales managers for site visit planning and execution.
  • Works closely with account/selling managers to develop site visit strategies.
  • Collects customer data from account/selling managers to ensure meticulous planning.
  • Establishes site standards and pricing guidelines to manage expenses within Department 47 and ensure accurate financial forecasting.
  • Analyzes competitors to effectively differentiate the property during site visits.
  • Understands market dynamics, including competition, economic trends, and seasonal patterns, to implement effective sales strategies.
  • Provides expert insights on local attractions and events.
  • Grows existing accounts through proactive solicitation during site visits.
  • Tracks bookings and leads generated through site visits.
  • Upholds Marriott’s Customer Service Standards and property-specific Brand Standards.
  • Facilitates effective resolution of guest issues arising from the sales process by creating mechanisms to communicate challenges to property leadership and relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitors performance indicators to increase revenues, manage expenses, and deliver a strong return on investment.
  • Ensures timely and quality turnover of business bookings to support service excellence.

The hourly pay range for this position is $31.73 to $40.38.
