Job description:

Store associates play a crucial role in creating a positive experience for both wholesale and retail customers by understanding their needs, answering inquiries regarding Sherwin-Williams products, and providing tailored recommendations. In addition to fulfilling customer requests, store associates are responsible for resolving any concerns swiftly, ensuring maximum client satisfaction. Staying informed about product features, maintaining the visual and quality standards of merchandise, and contributing to the overall aesthetic of the store are integral aspects of the role. Associates are expected to deliver exceptional customer service while consistently achieving the store’s sales objectives.

The position entails direct interaction with customers, including minors, as well as handling cash and other forms of payment. Associates will have access to sensitive materials, including personal information and store merchandise, which may be supervised or unsupervised. The selected individual will work at Store #1018, located at 6100 W. Vernor Hwy, Detroit, MI 48209. This is a part-time position, with compensation starting at $16 per hour.

What is the Process to get Started?

Step 1 – Online Application

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through superior sales service.
  • Assisting customers in person and via phone by assessing needs and proposing suitable products and services.
  • Building and maintaining trusting relationships with wholesale and retail customers.
  • Accurately processing sales transactions in accordance with company policies.

  • Maintaining accurate work order files and formulas.
  • Retrieving appropriate products from the sales floor or warehouse.
  • Tinting and mixing products to customer specifications, as needed.
  • Stocking shelves and arranging displays.

  • Loading and unloading delivery trucks, assisting with deliveries as required.
  • Keeping assigned areas in stock and visually appealing.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must legally be authorized to work in the country without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status, now or in the future.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in Spanish.
  • Capable of retrieving materials from shelves and floor stacks and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 70 lbs. occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Willingness to work all scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted Driver’s License.
  • Completion of at least a High School diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a delivery, retail, or customer service role.
  • Previous experience selling paint and related products.
  • Familiarity with operating tinting and mixing equipment.
