Position Summary

  • Kitchen Helper / Dietary Aide: Assists the Cook in meal preparation and service, ensures proper food presentation according to established policies and procedures, and, under the direction of the Food Services Director/Manager or Cook, helps maintain the quality of food service. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering food and trays, washing dishes, and cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen to meet health standards.
  • Safety: Employs protective gear during all functions and responsibly manages the safe mixing and use of cleaning solutions. Ensures compliance with established standards and safety protocols, including infection control and hygiene practices.
  • Punctuality: Maintains consistent attendance and punctuality, completing designated cleaning tasks on schedule and responding promptly to paging systems.
  • Customer Experience: Upholds HCSG’s reputation by following instructions and demonstrating courtesy and cooperation with supervisors, colleagues, and client staff.
  • Resident Experience: Engages with residents, staff, and facility guests in a positive and respectful manner.

Qualifications

  • Exhibits a positive attitude and can follow both oral and written instructions while performing repetitive daily tasks.
  • After completing training, demonstrates the ability to work independently and safely without supervision.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with desirable specialized training in food service. Completion of an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
  • ServSafe Certification: Current certification is required as per state and county law.
  • A valid Food Handler’s card is necessary.
  • Must consistently arrive at work as scheduled and on time.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies, as mandated by state, local, and/or customers, is essential.
  • Capable of lifting/carrying up to 30 pounds, pushing/pulling a maximum of 50 pounds, and standing, sitting, bending, and walking for extended periods.
  • Must perform routine, repetitive tasks continuously and work safely around food and cleaning products.
  • Residency within the service area is required.
