Job description:
Cleans and sanitizes areas following established policies and procedures to uphold high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout Memorial Healthcare. Responsibilities include cleaning patient rooms, nursing units, surgical areas, administrative offices, laboratory areas, waiting areas, physician offices, and public restrooms. Utilizing various cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, tasks include wiping equipment, changing linens, cleaning furniture, dusting and mopping floors, and vacuuming carpets. The role also involves making beds, disposing of trash, and replenishing paper products, as well as collecting dirty laundry from all patient areas.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Clean assigned areas thoroughly according to departmental procedures, including dusting, mopping, and vacuuming.
- Daily emptying, cleaning, and sanitizing all waste receptacles except for dirty utility receptacles, which are addressed once per month or more as needed.
- Clean water fountains daily and as necessary.
- Damp wipe all furniture and ensure windows, sills, screens, and casings are cleaned.
- Maintain the cleanliness of doors, door frames, and hinges.
- Conduct spot cleaning of walls as necessary.
- Clean and polish mirrors and maintain restroom cleanliness, including tiles, chrome fixtures, mirrors, and vents.
- Replenish supplies such as paper towels, soap, and tissues as required.
- Specifically clean patient rooms by washing and sanitizing beds, bedside stands, over-bed tables, desks, closets, and any other room furniture.
- Recheck walls, ceilings, and grids for thorough cleaning.
- Report floor conditions and notify the Department Head/Supervisor if floor maintenance is required.
- Place tent cards and hang patient-ready signs on doors upon completion of cleaning.
- Ensure that housekeeping carts and closets are fully stocked at the end of each shift.
- Prepare cleaning solutions as needed, adhering to provided instructions.
- Complete monthly side work in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and support the hospital’s mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies, procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and code of ethical behavior.
Departmental and Additional Responsibilities:

Job Specifications:
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) is required.
Experience:
- Previous housekeeping experience is preferred; on-the-job training will be provided.
Essential Physical Abilities/Motor Skills:
