Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Mill Supervisor, the General Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of manual tasks across different shifts, both indoors and outdoors, and in all departments within the facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct cleaning duties, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and mopping of floors, walls, ceilings, sinks, and restrooms.
- Maintain cleanliness in lunchrooms and restrooms and manage waste disposal.
- Assist with new construction, repairs, and maintenance of the buildings and grounds, utilizing necessary tools.
- Load and unload supplies, materials, packaging, and equipment throughout the facility as required across varying shifts.
- Perform general maintenance and construction tasks such as rough cutting of lumber and piping, mixing concrete, digging trenches, and repairing roofs, which may involve occasional operation of power tools.
- Responsible for washing tanks.
- Function as a truck helper as needed.
- Primarily report to Labor or Maintenance, with the possibility of assignment to various departments throughout the facility as required.
- Learn to operate mobile equipment as assigned.
- Report any issues to supervision, emphasizing the importance of product quality, integrity, safety, and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices while being familiar with the principles of the Food Safety Program.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned within the job classification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Ability to lift heavy loads and position equipment as needed.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organization within the department and plant.
- Ensure working areas, tools, and equipment are kept clean, neat, and orderly.
- Familiarity with the Environmental Management System, its policies, procedures, and work instructions, along with an understanding of the potential consequences of non-compliance.
Compensation for this position is set at $18.58 per hour.
