Job Summary:

The Banquets Manager is tasked with the management and seamless operation of the Banquet Department, emphasizing cost control and superior guest service. This role encompasses oversight of all elements related to banquets and events, including set-up, service, cleanup, and timekeeping. The Banquets Manager is responsible for the recruitment, training, coaching, discipline, and performance evaluation of banquet staff. Exempt associates are expected to work diligently throughout each workday to fulfill their responsibilities. Additionally, exempt managers are required to regularly direct the work of at least three full-time associates or their equivalents. The primary duties of this role should consist of administrative, executive, or professional tasks more than 50 percent of the time, with an emphasis on exercising discretion and independent judgment in decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Prepare schedules and wage reports for all banquet personnel.
  • Manage payroll and tip distribution for the Banquet Department.
  • Assist with the setup, service, and breakdown of banquet events as needed.
  • Coordinate food and beverage requirements related to banquets with the appropriate departments.
  • Keep the kitchen informed of accurate guest counts for plating.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate all banquet staff with support from the Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Collaborate with the Catering Manager and Food Production Manager/Assistant to review menus and service plans.
  • Maintain updated information on banquet functions and communicate pertinent details to supervisors.
  • Facilitate ongoing training for banquet captains and hourly employees to uphold service standards and improve guest service scores.
  • Address guest requests promptly and professionally.
  • Prepare banquet checks, obtain guest signatures, and inform clients of payment procedures upon completion of events.
  • Notify the Banquets Director and/or F&B Manager of necessary materials and equipment orders or replacements.
  • Requisition liquor and other supplies for banquet service.
  • Ensure safety, sanitation, and cleanliness of service areas are maintained.
  • Implement loss prevention strategies among service staff.
  • Participate in the Weekly Food & Beverage Meeting to facilitate effective interdepartmental communication.
  • Provide required Manager on Duty (MOD) coverage as scheduled.
  • Conduct menu training sessions as necessary to develop staff competencies.
  • Attend daily BEO meetings.
  • Foster professional relationships and maintain open communication across management, employees, and departments.
  • Ensure that pre-meal meetings are conducted for all functions.
  • Manage and audit alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage inventory.
  • Review banquet staff hours for payroll processing and ensure timely submission to accounting.

  • Assist the Banquets Director and Catering Manager with promotional initiatives and operational changes.
  • Oversee the control and maintenance of all service equipment, submitting service requests as needed.
  • Cross-train as necessary in other Food & Beverage Outlets as a manager/supervisor.
  • Provide assistance to audio/visual companies as required.
  • Maintain familiarity with the operation of the POS system.
  • Identify and correct hazards, notifying the General Manager or Banquets Director as needed.
  • Submit supply orders (candles, notepads, pens, uniforms) to the General Manager or Banquets Director for approval while maintaining inventory levels.
