Job description:

Responsible for selecting, measuring, and fitting eyewear in accordance with the specifications outlined in the doctors’ spectacle prescriptions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tailor the patient’s spectacle prescription utilizing the E.A.R.N. for Eyewear Consultants process methodology while addressing any previous eyewear concerns.
  • Convey information regarding the preferred lens family of products and elucidate the benefits associated with each option.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of all frame lines and their materials to facilitate accurate pre-adjustments prior to measurements.
  • Conduct and document various measurements required for the fabrication of lenses.
  • Accurately input and process eyewear orders into the software system designated for the optical laboratory.
  • Oversee the follow-up on eyewear orders until completion and delivery.
  • Ensure visual displays and eyewear products are maintained in a clean state, adhering to the store-specific plan-o-gram.
  • Interpret, explain, and effectively apply vision insurance coverage; assist with dispensing, adjusting, and troubleshooting eyewear.
  • Support front desk operations, including checking patients in and out, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance eligibility.
  • Neutralize and verify the spectacle prescription in eyewear through both automated and manual lensometry as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Previous experience with computers and basic math skills is preferred.
  • Background in customer service, retail, or hospitality is advantageous.
  • Experience in dispensing or optical roles is preferred.
  • Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended durations.
  • Completion of all mandated training courses as directed by Henry Ford Optimeyes.
  • Meet or exceed the core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors as outlined in the HFHS Customer Service Policy.
  • Demonstrate customer service skills as taught through ongoing training and in-services.

Working Conditions:

  • Operates within a retail optical environment.
  • Evening and weekend hours are necessary.
