Business Assistant

TFD of Livonia is seeking a full-time Business Assistant to become an integral part of our team.

Responsibilities:

– Warmly greet and welcome patients upon their arrival, ensuring a positive first impression of our team
– Manage front office responsibilities, which include answering phone calls, handling office mail and email, and communicating effectively with patients and insurance providers
– Utilize Dentrix for patient scheduling and maintaining accurate records
– Schedule and confirm appointments for multiple providers within the office
– File and follow up on patient insurance claims, verify benefits, and explain coverage options
– Post payments from insurance and patients, and manage accounts receivables
– Discuss treatment plan fees and available payment options with patients
– Collaborate with providers and team members to implement Heartland Dental systems to maximize office efficiency

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

– Proven experience in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment
– Strong communication and organizational skills
– Ability to handle minimal Protected Health Information (PHI); regular HIPAA training will be provided, and it is essential to protect PHI and maintain data security

Preferred Experience:

– At least one year of experience in a dental or medical environment
– Over one year of experience in insurance billing and accounts receivable
– Familiarity with Dentrix or similar dental software

Work Schedule:

Monday: 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM, Tuesday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Wednesday: 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM, Thursday: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, Friday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Physical Requirements:

– Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation, enabling individuals with disabilities to fulfill the job responsibilities
– Ability to sit for prolonged periods while working at a desk and on a computer
– Capacity to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds occasionally
– Availability to attend periodic virtual or in-person training sessions throughout the year
– A tuberculosis (TB) test will be required for all new hires in dental office positions as part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for team members and patients. This standard requirement must be completed before starting employment. The test will be arranged during the pre-employment process, with guidance and paperwork provided. This requirement does not apply in the states of Florida and Tennessee.
