Job description:

The Housekeeping Assistant Supervisor plays a vital role in the administration and coordination of housekeeping operations within designated areas. This position is responsible for inspecting guest rooms to ensure they meet established cleanliness standards, assisting Room Attendants as needed, and providing essential training. In the absence of the Housekeeping Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor will assume all responsibilities related to that role.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 to 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field is required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • College coursework in a related field is advantageous.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Approach all interactions with guests and colleagues in a friendly and service-oriented manner.
  • Adhere to regular attendance standards as required by the scheduling needs of the hotel, in compliance with Aimbridge Hospitality policies.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the designated uniform and name tag while on duty.
  • Ensure compliance with Aimbridge Hospitality standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Conduct daily inspections of staff performance in assigned sections, ensuring that standards and productivity are consistently met.
  • In the absence of the Housekeeping Manager or Assistant Housekeeping Manager, inspect all VIP rooms and communicate their availability to the Front Office.
  • Oversee the organized closure of floors at the end of the day, ensuring that Room Attendants’ carts are cleaned and restocked with linens only.
  • Ensure that daily assignment records are completed, signed off, and submitted to the Housekeeping Office punctually.
  • Maintain control of the key management system.
  • Support the supervision of all staff in Laundry and Housekeeping, holding them accountable for their performance.
  • Handle "Lost and Found" items in accordance with established procedures.
  • Be well-versed in all Aimbridge Hospitality policies and House Rules.
  • Ensure that all associates consistently exhibit attentiveness, friendliness, helpfulness, and courtesy toward guests, management, and fellow associates.
  • Ensure the overall cleanliness and orderliness of the staff areas.
  • Carry an active pager/radio to maintain communication with the Front Office and/or Engineering throughout the shift.
  • Oversee the daily assignment of tasks to ensure that each Room Attendant and House Attendant has a designated workload.
  • Monitor the cleanliness and organization of Room Attendants’ carts, linen closets, control closets, stairways, and landings.
  • Provide daily updates on the status of all out-of-order rooms under the Housekeeping Department’s management to the Guest Services Manager.
  • Initiate and follow up on work orders for repairs and maintenance issues, including doors, plumbing, heating/air conditioning, electrical equipment, furniture, carpets, and drapes.
  • Assist in the effective training and development of Room Attendants.
  • Motivate, coach, and counsel staff as necessary to maintain high performance levels.
  • Collect all keys and assignment sheets daily at the conclusion of each shift.
  • Attend management-required meetings as scheduled.
  • Ensure that regular maintenance and cleaning projects are completed biannually.
  • Monitor the status of VIP guests, special requests, and their needs.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by management.
