Job description:

This position is both highly visible and strategically significant, providing support to all departments within the Dearborn Tool & Die Facility by overseeing three distinct teams with specialized skill sets. The role necessitates extensive collaboration with the Strategic Business Unit (SBU), the UAW Leadership team, and Ford Human Resources.

Responsibilities:

Tool Coordination

  • Lead a team comprising 2 salaried employees, 1 contracted employee, and 5 hourly team members.
  • Estimate plant loading and provide comprehensive feedback to the SBU.
  • Oversee tool costing and timing to ensure compliance with Program GPDS milestones.
  • Monitor and track construction milestones and Quality Loop (QL) processes, reporting findings in the Open Issues Meeting and communicating effectively with the Program Manager.
  • Generate cost and timing estimates for Tool Process Changes and Engineering Changes.
  • Process Aurora Orders, Tracklite, and purchase orders (POs).

Plant Engineering Facilities

  • Lead a Plant Engineering team consisting of 3 salaried employees and 30 hourly team members.
  • Serve as the responsible party for ensuring corporate compliance concerning building facility requirements.
  • Act as Project Lead for all construction, equipment installations, and general projects related to Dearborn Tool & Die.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement plans.
  • Understand and lead all standard manufacturing maintenance systems.
  • Execute production equipment maintenance to ensure the reliability of manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinate and lead the maintenance operating system.
  • Participate in the production and assessment of new equipment standards and specifications.
  • Support initiatives related to safety, quality, technology, and production improvements by creating and implementing associated plans.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices regarding personal protective equipment, Planned Maintenance for High Value (PMHV), safety, ergonomics, and housekeeping.
  • Mentor and guide engineering and maintenance personnel.

Material Planning and Logistics

  • Lead the Material Planning and Logistics (MP&L) team, which includes 1 salaried employee and 6 hourly team members.
  • Oversee all aspects related to inventory, crib stock, and cycle counts, while being familiar with Ford’s inventory management systems.
  • Assure the implementation of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Maintenance, and Environment (SQDCPME) objectives and operational systems.
  • Guarantee that personal protective equipment, PMHV, safety, ergonomics, and housekeeping practices are effectively planned and followed.
  • Collaborate with plant hourly and salaried personnel, plant management, staff operations, logistics carriers, and production suppliers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in a Tool & Die production facility.
  • Profound understanding of Tool & Die processes and process planning.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in team management.
  • Experience in Material Planning & Logistics.
  • Experience collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering teams/organizations.
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills.
  • A demonstrated history of Servant Leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ford systems.
