Job description:
Under supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, this role involves performing precise and efficient diagnostic examinations across all areas of general radiology. Radiologic Technologists are expected to exhibit strong clinical skills and deliver optimal imaging results for interpretation. The position adheres to radiation protection principles and complies with relevant regulations. Responsibilities include managing a designated area and providing clinical instruction as necessary, while consistently upholding the Beaumont philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care.

Essential Functions:
– Conduct high-quality diagnostic examinations following verification of patient identification and physician orders.
– Gather and document a comprehensive patient history in the medical record.
– Monitor patients throughout procedures to ensure their safety.
– Execute radiographic and associated patient care procedures using age-appropriate techniques that accommodate the patient’s physical capabilities and limitations.
– Relay STAT requests to the radiologist without delay.
– Communicate effectively with customer service, administrative staff, medical personnel, and colleagues on both interdepartmental and intradepartmental levels.
– Demonstrate proficiency in operating diagnostic imaging equipment and adhere to protocols for addressing malfunctions or quality control issues.
– Apply ALARA standards to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self.
– Provide procedural information and education to patients and their families prior to examinations.
– Contribute to the efficient functioning of the department by assisting colleagues and maintaining compliance with quality assurance and control measures.
– Utilize hospital computer systems competently for verifying orders, viewing schedules, and transmitting information to the PACS.
– Assist in the training and onboarding of students and new hires.
– Ensure that equipment is disinfected between patients and that exam rooms are clean and adequately stocked with linens and supplies.
– Maintain competencies across assigned areas, including but not limited to fluoroscopy, general diagnostics, orthopedics, and operational procedures.

Qualifications:
– Must be a graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited radiography program.
– Completion of relevant training at the student level is required.
– CRT-Radiologic Technologist Registration – ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) is required within 180 days.
– CRT-Radiographer (R) certification from ARRT is required upon hire.
– Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) is required upon hire.

Physical Demands:
– Capability to lift weights greater than 5 lbs from pallet to waist seldomly, with occasional lifts up to 10 lbs.
– Ability to handle weights greater than 5 lbs from waist to waist occasionally, with the potential to lift up to 35 lbs.
– Must be able to move weights from waist to chest and overhead seldomly, with occasional lifts up to 10 lbs.
– Exhibit proficiency in pushing or pulling forces greater than 5 lbs occasionally, up to 35 lbs.
– Physical activity includes standing and walking frequently, with limited requirements for sitting, bending, squatting, reach, and driving.
– Frequent use of finger and hand dexterity.
– Visual acuity should meet specified standards for the role.
