We are currently seeking an experienced Hospitality Manager – Catering for the University of Michigan. Principal Function:
The Hospitality Manager – Catering will be instrumental in overseeing the daily operations of the catering department to ensure exceptional client satisfaction. This role encompasses both administrative and operational responsibilities to guarantee that events are coordinated and executed seamlessly in accordance with client expectations and specifications. The Hospitality Manager will assist in planning and preparing for events based on anticipated attendance and will provide hands-on management and supervision of service and food & beverage operations during events as necessary.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maximize Sodexo Live!’s catering revenue through innovative sales techniques and a customer-centric approach.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to operations staff.
  • Contribute to the mission of making Sodexo Live! the leading choice in Event Hospitality and a premier Employer of Choice through personal commitment and exemplary leadership.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, hotel/restaurant management, or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience that ensures effectiveness in the role.
  • 3-5 years of current catering management experience.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen, including P&L accountability and/or experience in contract-managed services.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and wine for menu development.
  • Strong understanding of food and beverage financials, operational procedures, controls, administration, and sales functions.
  • Proven track record of sales achievement and leadership success.
  • Proficient in technology, particularly within Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with various organizational functions and divisions for task completion.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with all levels of staff and management, promoting a team-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working independently and managing multiple tasks/projects while contributing to other business areas beyond retail operations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive in identifying and resolving issues timely and effectively.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work effectively and safely in environments subject to wet floors, temperature fluctuations, and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate in confined spaces.
  • Flexibility to work extended or irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
