General Summary:
Under supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, you will perform accurate and efficient diagnostic exams across all areas of general radiology. Radiology Technologists are expected to demonstrate strong clinical skills and produce the highest quality images for interpretation. You will apply principles of radiation protection and adhere to all regulations, taking responsibility for your designated area and providing clinical instruction as needed. At all times, you will follow Corewell Health’s philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care.
Essential Duties:
– Perform high-quality diagnostic exams, verifying patient identification and physician orders.
– Obtain and document accurate patient histories in the medical record.
– Monitor patient safety during procedures.
– Execute radiographic and related patient care procedures using methods appropriate for the patient’s age, physical capabilities, and/or limitations.
– Ensure that STAT requests are communicated to the radiologist promptly.
– Communicate effectively across inter/intra-departmental levels with customer service, administrative, medical staff, and peers.
– Exhibit proficiency in operating diagnostic imaging equipment and follow protocols for addressing malfunctions or quality control issues.
– Adhere to ALARA standards to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and yourself.
– Provide procedural information and education to patients and their families prior to each exam.
– Support the efficient operations of the department by assisting colleagues and complying with quality assurance and quality control protocols.
– Accurately utilize hospital computer systems for order verification, schedule viewing, and PACS information transmission.
– Assist in the training of students and new hires.
– Ensure that equipment is sanitized between patients and that exam rooms are clean and adequately stocked with linens and supplies.
– Maintain competency in all assigned areas, including but not limited to fluoroscopic, general diagnostic, orthopedic, and operating procedures.
Qualifications:
– Graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited Radiography program.
– Experience gained at the student level is required.
– CRT-Radiologic Technologist Registration – ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) within 180 days of hire is required.
– CRT-Radiographer (R) – ARRT registration is required upon hire.
– BLS Certification from either the AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) is required upon hire.
