This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the productivity of daily operations by collaborating closely with management to assess recruiting and hiring needs, meet deadlines, and enforce safety protocols within the crew. Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
– Plan, coordinate, and assign daily work for the crew based on orders received from a General Foreperson or Line Clearance Supervisor.
– Conduct field training and retraining, instructing the crew on new or revised job aspects.
– Enforce safe work practices in alignment with experience, judgment, company policies, and OSHA standards, while also providing safety training as required.
– Communicate with property owners and customers regarding access issues, power interruptions, work responsibilities, and any apparent property damage, referring complex matters to the General Foreperson.
– Secure oral or written consent from property owners to execute necessary work.
– Foster and maintain positive relationships with customers and the public by ensuring efficient job completion and promoting appropriate crew behavior.
– Investigate incident reports and minor damage claims, with the delegation of authority to settle less significant issues.
– Maintain accurate records, timesheets, and reports pertaining to crew operations.
– Manage crew costs through effective use of personnel, work methods, and equipment operation.
– Provide reports to the General Foreperson and utility representatives about completed orders, units of work, crew time, minor damage repairs, and distribution.
– Periodically report on incidents, vehicle breakdowns, property damage, and new employee follow-ups.
– Collaborate with customers, police, and fire departments when roadways or driveways are obstructed.
– Implement barriers, signs, flags, and markers to protect employees and the public from hazards, and determine necessary actions in emergencies to mitigate risks to life and property.
– Inspect tools, trucks, and other equipment, making necessary repairs or arranging maintenance as required.
– Uphold cleanliness and organization on trucks and in work locations.
– Ensure compliance with DOT maintenance and inspection standards for all required vehicles.
– Stay informed about new equipment, specifications, industry practices, operational procedures, and company policies regarding employee relations, including EEO and AA policies, requesting repairs or replacements when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
– Proficiency in interpreting drawings and symbols related to lines, voltages, and line equipment.
– Outstanding communication and leadership abilities.
– Strong organizational skills and capacity for multitasking.
– Ability to adapt to field requirements and demonstrate autonomy in action without close supervision.
– Validity and capability to drive an approved company vehicle safely.
– Physical stamina to work with hands above head for extended periods.
– Weight should not exceed approximately 300 pounds due to operational equipment constraints.
– No fear of heights.
Education & Experience:
– Must be at least 18 years of age.
– High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
Pre-Screening:
– Candidates may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and/or motor vehicle record check upon an offer of employment.
Licenses & Certifications:
– A valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) is required.
Physical Requirements:
– Rare (less than 10%): Crawling, climbing, gripping, lifting up to 50 lbs.
– Occasional (up to 33%): Standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, body twisting, manual dexterity, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, and stairs, balancing.

Safety:
