Responsibilities
The HVAC Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing a team of technicians dedicated to the installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems for commercial clients. This role necessitates direct interaction with service and installation technicians, dispatch personnel, and fellow managers, ensuring overall customer satisfaction while fulfilling departmental objectives. As a senior representative of the company, the Branch Manager communicates regularly with customers, vendors, and suppliers to accurately convey job or project status and requirements.

  • Conduct interviews, screenings, and evaluations of HVAC technicians to meet workload demands.
  • Schedule, direct, and provide technical support to HVAC technicians to fulfill service demands and uphold customer expectations.
  • Review technicians’ work, techniques, and safety compliance to ensure quality assurance and recommend improvements for productivity.
  • Assess the training needs of staff and facilitate regular training programs to ensure technicians are well-versed in the latest service techniques and safety protocols.
  • Comply with all relevant health and safety regulations and policies, ensuring that employee safety training and compliance are completed.
  • Conduct performance appraisals for staff and set improvement goals in line with company requirements.
  • Collaborate with technicians in the field to address and resolve customer and technician-related issues.
  • Maintain regular communication with dispatch to ensure personnel are appropriately scheduled according to their skill level, efficiency, and training requirements.
  • Daily communication with dispatch to report on project updates, estimated completion times, labor hours, and materials utilized.
  • Review work orders, invoices, and time reports for accuracy while maintaining minimal accounts receivable.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, goals, and objectives to ensure departmental profitability.
  • Communicate with vendors and factory personnel regarding warranty issues, product recalls, operational problems, premature failures, and related concerns.
  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of assigned service vehicles in accordance with company policy while ensuring that a sufficient inventory of parts and materials is maintained.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of recent and successful experience in HVAC and Refrigeration service management.
  • Preferred: Two years of technical training or a bachelor’s degree.
  • Proficient in performing advanced-level maintenance and service on HVAC and Refrigeration equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the ability to learn new systems.
  • EPA Universal Certification is required.
  • Valid driver’s license is a must.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict management skills.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.
  • Innovate ideas and processes to foster growth within the service department.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with management, executive leadership, support staff, and technicians.
