Job description:
The General Manager will oversee all snow and ice control operations within the company. This role encompasses the management of field operations, subcontractor coordination, customer relationship management, sales and business development activities, and the overall performance of the division to achieve profitability objectives.
Areas of Responsibility:
General Responsibilities
- Follow directions and provide support to the company President and Vice President as needed.
- Lead District Managers to foster a collaborative team approach across all operational facets.
- Commit to delivering services that consistently meet and exceed company standards.
- Ensure strict enforcement of safety policies regarding all company operations.
- Complete all necessary documentation promptly and efficiently.
Sales Responsibilities
- Develop and continuously enhance a comprehensive and professional sales organization.
- Maintain and develop metrics to monitor renewals, new sales conversions, and close rates.
- Provide senior management with weekly sales updates, including projections for weekly, monthly, and seasonal sales, while comparing results to prior years.
- Calculate bid rates for each account, factoring in individual and group job costing.
- Prepare presentation materials for significant bids as necessary.
- Design and implement marketing initiatives to facilitate sales targets and meet annual sales and profitability objectives.
- Identify innovative tools to streamline the lead and sales generation process.
- Create a structured timeline with key milestones to ensure a smooth transition from seasonal operations to the sales season.
Operations Responsibilities
- Oversee the development and evaluation of snow route operations for efficiency.
- Lead snow operations meetings across the company.
- Manage the pre-season property inspection process for all districts, ensuring completion by November 7th.
- Assist District Managers and Area Managers in training subcontractors on ensuring timely and efficient snow plowing operations at each assigned site.
- Initiate communications with District Managers to prepare field staff for upcoming storms.
- Prompt District Managers to commence plowing operations in their respective districts.
- Assist District Managers with equipment allocation or reallocation in the event of shortages.
- Aid District Managers in coordinating the effective and timely utilization of subcontractors.
- Conduct monthly meetings with subcontractors and snow production personnel during peak season.
- Manage the post-season property inspection process to ensure completion by May 1st.
- Ensure District Managers submit required paperwork to the billing team.
- Monitor the completion of plowing operations within each district, adhering to projected timelines.
- Perform site inspections during and after service events to confirm successful task completion on specific routes.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through successful execution of snow management operations, utilizing Customer Service feedback sheets.
- Create an action plan to address any sub-standard customer service experiences.
- Provide senior management with feedback regarding customer satisfaction following storms.

- Maintain or improve the morale of company partners and subcontractors.

- Achieve certified snow professional status within two years of employment.
- Implement and uphold company policies and standard operating procedures.
- Manage and cultivate positive relationships with contracting firms, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Seek opportunities to enhance efficiencies across all business facets.
- Ensure District and Area Managers uphold company expectations.
Specific Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of snow plowing and removal operations.

- Strong interpersonal, multitasking, and organizational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer literacy.
- Exceptional mathematical skills, with a strong aptitude for understanding and analyzing financial statements relevant to the snow and ice division.
