Job description:

At Great Wolf, the Banquet Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing all elements of banquet and event management, including set-up, food presentation, service, and clean-up, maintaining a strong emphasis on quality presentation and exceptional customer service. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all personnel processes, including hiring, scheduling, and training banquet staff in various service techniques such as American, French, and buffet services.
  • Establish performance expectations for banquet staff and devise action plans to achieve set goals.
  • Monitor staff attendance according to schedules, and make necessary adjustments to server assignments to ensure optimal service quality during events.
  • Supervise the setup of function rooms and verify that arrangements meet client specifications through visible inspections.
  • Ensure the proper cleanup of function rooms and manage the breakdown and storage of all equipment.
  • Maintain effective communication throughout events with kitchen, service, beverage, convention services, engineering teams, and guest hosts to guarantee timely execution, quality service, and compliance with all relevant safety and health regulations and corporate standards.
  • Accurately process billing information using the POS system, paying attention to detail.
  • Handle payroll responsibilities for each event, including the calculation of hours worked and gratuity distribution.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and linens for functions, ensuring approval from the Food & Beverage Director.
  • Provide assistance to servers and captains in the execution of events in alignment with event orders and Great Lake Co. quality standards.
  • Adhere to Great Lake Co. regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience in the food and beverage industry
  • In-depth knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette
  • Proven experience in maintaining a safe work environment in compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., Ergonomics, Emergency Response, Injury and Illness Prevention, Hazard Communication Plans)
  • Flexibility in scheduling according to business demands
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening
