As a rapidly expanding primary care provider, we are looking for talented individuals to join our team. The Care Promoter 1, Early Embrace, serves as an unlicensed medical professional who is cross-trained to perform a range of routine administrative and clinical tasks that ensure the smooth operation of our medical centers. Responsibilities may vary based on the specific setting, including its size and focus. In this role, you will perform clinical duties under the direct supervision of a physician and in accordance with state medical practice regulations, contributing significantly as a member of a physician-led care team focused on delivering exceptional primary care to a defined patient population.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Measure and record patient vital signs and document patient interviews and medical histories.
  • Catalog and communicate patient needs to the primary care physician (PCP), clinicians, specialists, and other clinical staff.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, perform routine screening tests, assist physicians during exams, and explain treatment procedures and physician instructions to patients.
  • Observe patients and report any changes in their conditions to relevant clinical personnel.
  • Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical directives, collect phlebotomy and other lab specimens, and conduct basic waived lab tests.
  • Prepare and administer medications, change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and perform other first aid procedures as required, all under physician oversight.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment, stock and sterilize instruments, and adhere to OSHA safety standards while ensuring accurate and ethical documentation at all times.
  • Manage patient phone inquiries, return calls, and route messages to appropriate team members; obtain and relay critical information to physicians as needed.
  • With physician approval, submit prescriptions to pharmacies, employing appropriate medical terminology and adhering to legal and ethical standards.
  • Provide health coaching to a designated group of patients to encourage healthy lifestyle choices, with regular follow-up calls.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong business acumen and discernment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of general medical assistant functions and practices.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, products, services, and standard procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a compassionate demeanor towards patients and their families.
  • Superior oral and written communication abilities, along with effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in basic phone and computer operations.
  • Capacity to collaborate with team members, including physicians, nurses, and administrative staff.
  • Problem-solving orientation focused on patient care and team objectives.
  • Detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy in reporting and documentation.
  • Ability to maintain organized systems for efficient patient flow.
  • Calmness and composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Willingness to travel locally and regionally (up to 10% of the time) and flexibility to work weekends as required.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English; bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Creole is a plus.

Education and Experience Criteria:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare vocational training is essential.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in roles such as Medical Assistant or Patient Care Technician in a healthcare environment, or demonstrated clinical rotation training may be considered as a substitute for work experience.
  • Experience with geriatric patients is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required within the first 90 days of employment.
