Position Overview
The Truss Assembler I is responsible for the assembly of truss components. This role involves stocking lumber, plates, and other necessary materials and supplies, as well as banding and stacking finished products.
Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour
Schedule:
– 1st Shift: Monday to Friday from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM
– 2nd Shift: Monday to Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Essential Job Duties
– Arrange truss supplies and materials on carts or the floor and stock plates for component assembly.
– Assemble components under the guidance of line leaders.
– Load and band finished materials on carts or pallets, both indoors and outdoors.
– Receive incoming products, commodities, and materials.
– Interpret shop drawings to identify plate sizes, gauges, girder truss nailing, and bolt patterns.
– Understand stacking orders as indicated in shop drawings.
– Monitor the production workflow, assisting in other areas as needed.
– Operate all necessary equipment associated with the assembly process.
– Adhere to established safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.
– Comply with the company’s attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.
– Assist in maintaining an organized work environment, including emptying trash receptacles and keeping all staging areas clean and orderly.
– Provide exemplary customer service and foster a positive work atmosphere.
– Monitor inventory as required by management.
– Maintain awareness of the work environment to ensure error-free and damage-free outputs.
– Participate in and complete assigned training sessions.
– Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
– Minimum education requirement: High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
– Minimum experience requirement: Prior carpentry experience is beneficial.
– Special skills: Proficiency in reading a tape measure and using a hammer; ability to learn to operate equipment such as routers, saws, presses, and staple guns.
– Physical demands include exposure to extreme temperatures, repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs., and occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs. The environment may be dusty and noisy, particularly when operating woodworking machinery and tools; ear protection is necessary for prolonged exposure to noise. Eye protection and hard-soled leather shoes are required at all times.
