In this role, you will plan, direct, and supervise team members in the daily operations across various store departments. You will act as a mentor and coach, implementing strategies to enhance customer service, drive sales, and ensure customer needs are met efficiently. Additionally, you will maintain store appearance during peak shopping times with a focus on product presentation and adherence to company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a positive company image by delivering courteous, friendly, and efficient service to both customers and team members.
  • Oversee staffing, selection, and hiring to meet operational needs.
  • Promote succession planning by defining career paths, identifying development needs for team members, and taking accountability for promotion decisions.
  • Document and enforce disciplinary actions as necessary, providing recommendations regarding discharges.
  • Manage profit and loss (P&L), achieve sales targets, and minimize shrinkage within the department.
  • Exemplify exceptional, rapid, and friendly customer service.
  • Advocate the Meijer Friendly Initiative during all team meetings and discussions.
  • Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals while maintaining Meijer standards in operations.
  • Ensure comprehensive training for team members, confirming completion of all required training programs.
  • Spend a significant amount of time on the sales floor engaging with customers and team members to deliver outstanding service.
  • Promote a safe working environment.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years of relevant retail experience.
  • One year of management experience.
  • Rotational assignments in various store areas (meat, bakery, produce, deli), as well as customer service and product flow experience, are beneficial.
  • Exceptional communication skills to provide clear and precise direction to team members.
  • Proven ability to resolve conflicts by addressing underlying issues.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting financial and statistical data to make informed decisions, including teaching suggestive selling techniques.
  • Ability to lead a team that prioritizes safety at all times.
  • Experience in mentoring team members across various organizational levels, from SDITs to hourly positions and team leaders.
  • Successful completion of all required certifications.
