In this position, you will provide strategic direction related to operations, processes, and conditions within your designated area. You will plan, guide, and empower team members to ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the department while setting a standard for exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with peers to deliver the highest quality shopping experience for our customers, including an outstanding checkout process.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and assign daily tasks.
  • Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals, ensuring the department meets Meijer standards and required training is completed.
  • Assist in training new employees and cross-training high-potential team members, providing guidance on job responsibilities and standards to enhance productivity.
  • Collaborate with leadership on department scheduling to improve team engagement, customer service, store sales, and profitability.
  • Monitor the freshness of products by implementing effective rotation and dating policies.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations, fostering a culture of safety that aligns with our commitment to 200% accountability.
  • Lead team members in executing tasks such as ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product display, as applicable.
  • Actively cultivate an environment that reflects Meijer’s culture, emphasizing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Operate a cash register and handle cash transactions as needed.
  • Utilize powered equipment where necessary.
  • Participate in periodic inventory counts, where applicable, to help meet objectives.
