Job description:
The Residential Program Technician reports directly to the Residential Program Supervisor and is expected to possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Candidates must demonstrate basic computer skills, hold a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record for insurance purposes, and meet the Agency’s standards of moral character through an acceptable FBI criminal records check. A negative drug screen and TB test are also prerequisites for this role. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for fulfilling the job responsibilities effectively.
Health: The technician must maintain physical and mental health that does not adversely affect either the residents or the quality of care provided. Regular physical demands of the role include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, stand, stoop, and kneel without restrictions.
Knowledge: Candidates should possess sufficient knowledge to address both common and uncommon issues within their areas of responsibility. A basic understanding of the resident population and specific treatment knowledge, along with intervention skills, is required.
Supervision: Daily supervision will be provided by the Program Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, and/or Lead Program Technician.
Skills: Candidates must have strong skills in interacting with the target population, which includes the ability to read, write, and comprehend all Agency, consumer, and program documentation.
Judgment: The technician must exhibit sound judgment within the scope of their responsibilities and be capable of operating independently on a daily basis without immediate supervisory direction. They will be trained to manage emergencies as specified in the Policy and Procedure Manual.
Performance Standards: This position requires adherence to a professional code of ethics, maintaining confidentiality of consumer and employee information, collaborating effectively with team members, and conducting courteous interactions with the public and colleagues.
Level of Access: The technician will have full access to residential clinical and demographic records, as well as partial access to residential financial records.
Overall Responsibilities: The Residential Program Technician operates under the guidance of the Program Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, and Lead Program Technician, completing all assigned duties and activities. Positive interaction with consumers and co-workers across all program areas is essential. The technician is responsible for meeting the physical, safety, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of each resident, as well as delivering services detailed in each resident’s Individual Plan of Service (IPOS).
Specific Responsibilities:
Program Management
- Adhere to all I.M.P.A.C.T. policies and regulatory agency protocols.
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings.
- Accurately complete all required documentation, whether on computer or handwritten, by I.M.P.A.C.T. and regulatory agencies, ensuring readability and timeliness.
- Report any changes in consumer or program needs by submitting the proper documentation and notifying the supervisor of irregular changes.
- Ensure the personal safety of residents by adhering to all safety protocols during activities.
- Conduct housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy facility.
- Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and recipes.
Consumer Services
- Immediately report any suspected consumer abuse and/or neglect to the direct supervisor.
- Uphold the rights of consumers at all times.
- Act as an advocate for residents during their placement in the home.
- Facilitate residents’ activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, feeding, dressing, personal hygiene, and toileting.
- Administer medications to residents as prescribed by physicians, following procedures taught by I.M.P.A.C.T.
- Assist consumers in community integration, including outings and developing/maintaining friendships or participation in Agency-sponsored activities.
- Monitor and fulfill programs for each resident as outlined in their IPOS, effectively managing challenging behaviors when necessary.
- Provide recommendations concerning client goals while engaging in Person Centered Planning, self-advocacy, and self-determination.
- Be prepared for potential business needs which may require overtime, work at other agency homes, or adjustments to the current schedule.
Personnel
- Communicate any concerns or issues to the immediate supervisor.
- Foster a positive, cooperative, and secure atmosphere within the consumer’s home, avoiding negativity and personal disputes.
- Comply with all Agency health and safety policies and procedures while respecting cultural differences among staff and consumers, including aspects such as weight, age, sex, religion, sexual orientation, and race.
Staff Development/Training
- Complete 100% of the Training Toolbox requirements.
- Finish new employee orientation and Agency training within designated time frames.
- Attend selected training sessions beneficial to the Agency and/or home.
General Agency
- Notify the immediate supervisor of any changes in employee or resident status.
- Keep the supervisor informed about significant issues related to residents’ progress, facility maintenance, staffing concerns, policy violations, or other relevant matters.
- Undertake other assigned activities as permitted by established Agency policies.
- Recognize and uphold the confidentiality rights of all clients and consumers, maintaining trust regarding sensitive information related to their care and treatment, and direct any inquiries regarding clients/consumers to the Executive Director. All reports, records, and data pertaining to clients/consumers are confidential and must not be discussed outside the facility or released without written consent.
