In this role, you will plan, direct, and supervise team members in their daily operations across various departments of the store. Acting as a mentor and coach, you will implement strategies aimed at enhancing customer service and driving store sales, all while ensuring that customer needs are met with efficiency and quality. You will also be responsible for maintaining the store’s appearance, particularly during peak shopping hours, to align with product presentation and company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold a positive company image by ensuring courteous, friendly, and efficient service is delivered to both customers and team members.
  • Manage staffing needs through effective selection and hiring practices.
  • Promote succession planning by establishing career paths, identifying developmental needs for team members, and being actively involved in promotion decisions.
  • Document and enforce disciplinary actions as necessary and make recommendations regarding employee discharges.
  • Oversee Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibilities, ensuring sales targets are met and shrinkage is minimized within the department.
  • Model exceptional customer service that is both prompt and friendly.
  • Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative consistently during team meetings and interactions.
  • Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals while maintaining compliance with Meijer standards.
  • Ensure that team members receive thorough training in all job functions and complete all required certifications.
  • Spend considerable time on the sales floor, engaging with customers and team members to guarantee exceptional service delivery.
  • Promote a safe working environment.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2-3 years of relevant retail experience.
  • A minimum of one year of management experience.
