As a Cook, you will play an essential role in the preparation and execution of both hot and cold meals across our restaurants, room service, and grab-and-go markets. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your culinary expertise in various tasks, including line cooking, prep cooking, vegetable preparation, short order cooking, catering, and mise en place, allowing you to make a meaningful impact on those we serve every day.
Essential Functions:
– Execute hot food preparation techniques including frying, baking, broiling, braising, and grilling. Prepare a variety of dishes such as soups, cereals, eggs, entrees, vegetables, and other necessary food items. Monitor food quantity requirements as customer needs fluctuate.
– Assemble and prepare ingredients for cooking by washing and cutting as needed.
– Follow standardized recipes and accurately calculate ingredient quantities based on weight and volume.
– Ensure food quality through regular assessments of taste, texture, and visual presentation while maintaining appropriate food temperatures.
– Document temperatures accurately on temperature logs and take responsibility for replacing any food items that do not meet our quality standards.
– Properly store food items, ensuring they are labeled and dated in accordance with established guidelines, while effectively utilizing leftovers within the designated timeframe.
– Set up steam tables for patient and cafeteria tray lines.
– Collaborate with fellow staff members to ensure seamless coordination and continuity of services.

Qualifications:
Required:
– High School Diploma or equivalent.
– A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in food service or an equivalent field.
– CRT-ServSafe Allergen Certification from the National Restaurant Association, obtained within 90 days.
– CRT-ServSafe Handler Certification from the National Restaurant Association, obtained within 90 days, or CRT-ServSafe Manager Certification from the National Restaurant Association, also to be obtained within 90 days.
Preferred:
– Completion of vocational or technical courses in food preparation.
– Completion of a baking and cake decorating course lasting from sixteen weeks to one year.
