The Culinary & Hospitality Associates play a vital role in the Food Service department, executing all assigned tasks under general supervision and in accordance with established procedures. This position requires an unwavering commitment to compassion and exceptional customer service. All members of the Bronson Food & Nutrition team are expected to consistently deliver outstanding service to all customers, collaborate effectively to promote a safe and positive environment, work independently while managing time efficiently, adhere to instructions, and pay meticulous attention to detail in their duties. Employees may also be required to complete tasks beyond their specific roles as necessary for the Food and Nutrition Department’s daily operations.

Culinary & Hospitality Associate Level 2 is responsible for the proper preparation of meats, vegetables, soups, sauces, gravies, entrees, and other dishes using various cooking methods. Associates are expected to work expediently and efficiently while maintaining composure and a positive demeanor in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This position may require functioning as a cook in both retail and inpatient culinary settings, strictly adhering to dietary guidelines and sanitation standards established by the Food and Nutrition Department.

This role is crucial in delivering meal services to Bronson’s patient population, acting as a liaison between the Clinical and Food & Nutrition teams. Key responsibilities include introducing the patient menu, explaining the ordering process, and detailing prescribed diets and dietary restrictions based on physician orders. A high degree of autonomy is expected, with responsibilities spanning all inpatient units, kitchens, and cafes across the hospital campus. The position also involves assisting patients and their families with meal ordering through the Bronson Room Service computer system and managing the Bronson Room Service phone line.

Required Qualifications:

  • Fundamental knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to:
    • Communicate clearly and comprehend basic verbal and written instructions.
    • Follow basic food assembly and packaging protocols.
    • Read and understand the English language proficiently.
    • Utilize basic math skills.
    • Demonstrate competencies tailored to the patient population when providing direct patient care.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Completion of AGF 110 and Cul 100 at the KVCC Bronson Healthy Living Campus.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and serve food items and supplies to customers, patients, and supply facilities.
  • Deliver meals and supplies to patients.
  • Perform light and heavy cleaning tasks as assigned, including dishwashing and facility cleaning.
  • Operate cash registers and patient meal ordering systems.
  • Stock supplies, label and date products, and rotate inventory.
  • Prepare, portion, distribute, and store various food items according to recipes and established procedures.
  • Measure, wash, clean, mix, and combine ingredients in food preparation.
  • Operate automatic appliances and utilize manual kitchen utensils.
  • Adjust production amounts based on recipes.
  • Maintain the highest standards of quality and utilize proper cooking methods.
  • Exhibit a commitment to delivering excellent customer service consistent with our mission, values, and service standards.
  • Execute various cooking tasks, including preparing and cooking meats, vegetables, desserts, and special dishes per the daily menu.
  • Bake goods such as breads, cakes, and cookies as needed.
