Job description:

The Guest Services Agent (GSA) plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional service that aligns with the mission and overall success of the hotel. This position entails achieving performance objectives at the front desk while supporting the Operations Manager. As the primary point of contact regarding Front Desk technology systems and in-house guest relations during their shift, the GSA embodies the brand’s values upon every guest’s arrival.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions, adhering to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards.
  • Register guests, issue room keys, and communicate hotel services and room locations. Respond to phone inquiries promptly and courteously.
  • Process all cash and credit card transactions accurately, following established procedures, which include posting charges, completing cashier and operational reports, preparing deposits, and securing assigned bank.
  • Maintain security protocols regarding cash, credit card transactions, and guest information.
  • Manage guest reservations for individuals and groups via phone or in-person, including processing cancellations and updates. Proactively up-sell rooms to optimize revenue.
  • Implement the seasonal demand reservation strategy as directed by the hotel management, including pricing for room types and length of stay.
  • Foster teamwork and ensure quality service through effective communication and coordination with oncoming shifts and departmental management.
  • Provide service at the shoppe and the pour, ensuring guests receive the best offerings. Adhere to local laws concerning alcoholic beverage sales.
  • Ensure that special guest requests are fulfilled and that services are delivered to their satisfaction.
  • Oversee the issuance, control, and release of guest safe-deposit boxes.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding health, safety, and alcohol service.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a hotel or retail customer service setting is preferred.
  • Previous experience in the extended stay industry is advantageous.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
  • Strong professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including budgeting, profit/loss concepts, and calculating percentages, are preferred.
  • Demonstrated abilities in problem solving, reasoning, motivation, organization, and training are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Opera systems is preferred.
  • A ServSafe certification will be required.
  • A TIPS certification may be necessary.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • This role necessitates frequent standing, bending, climbing, kneeling, and mobility within the facility.
  • Ability to carry, lift, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Competence in handling various objects and equipment.
  • Capability to stand for extended durations.
  • Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
