As a Team Member, you will provide critical support by performing duties related to customer service, stocking, and sanitation in your assigned department(s). All positions require a commitment to maintaining a positive company image by delivering courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and fellow Team Members. Responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with established team and store Standard Operating Procedures, and Team Members should be ready to perform duties as outlined in various job descriptions. Additionally, you’ll strive to uphold Whole Foods Market’s core values, promote company programs and initiatives, and ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Flexibility to work a schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Carry out opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned.
  • Follow department protocols for preparing, storing, rotating, and restocking products.
  • Prepare, package, weigh, and price products for sale.
  • Monitor product quality and freshness, ensuring proper rotation.
  • Maintain clean and well-stocked display cases and shelves.
  • Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep logs as required.
  • Assist with periodic inventory checks.
  • Arrive on time, well-groomed, appropriately dressed, and ready to work; fulfill all scheduled shifts and attend required training and meetings.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, promptly addressing customer needs while utilizing suggestive selling techniques; respond to phone calls and pages courteously.
  • Maximize sales potential through effective procedures related to product prep, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising.
  • Comply with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation standards, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; ensure equipment meets Whole Foods Market cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Verify the accuracy of signage and pricing.
  • Report any safety hazards and violations immediately.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking 6-8 hours.

  • Work involves motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Tolerance for temperature variations: Less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerated), and >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in wet and/or cold environments.
  • Proficient use of tools and equipment including box cutters, knives, electric pallet jacks, forklifts, hand trucks, six-wheel carts, balers, and other heavy machinery.

New entry-level Team Members who successfully complete their first 90 days of employment and remain actively employed in an eligible role may qualify for a base rate increase after their 90-day anniversary.
