AI Pay Analysis: To provide an accurate analysis of the hourly rate for the “Dialysis Clinical Technician” position in Eastpointe, MI, it’s essential to compare it with industry standards and local rates. Generally, as of 2023, the average hourly wage for Dialysis Clinical Technicians in Michigan ranges between $15 to $25 per hour, depending on experience and specific facility practices. If the offered rate falls within or above this range, it can be considered competitive; otherwise, it might be perceived as lower than average. Additionally, factors such as benefits, work environment, and job responsibilities should also be considered in assessing the overall competitiveness of the compensation package. Thus, without the specific hourly rate, it is challenging to determine its competitiveness accurately.

Job description:

Unit: Eastpointe Dialysis (CA/CC & HHD)
Eastpointe Home Dialysis operates in conjunction with an outpatient dialysis facility, focusing on the management of peritoneal and home dialysis patients. The unit currently serves a patient census of 15 peritoneal dialysis (PD) clients and 2 home hemodialysis (HHD) clients.

Our team includes dedicated full-time nephrologists, both full-time and part-time home nurses, as well as home dialysis technicians. Additional operational support is provided by front desk personnel and technical leaders responsible for machine maintenance, who collaborate with our outpatient clinic staff.

The unit actively case manages 17 patients monitored through connected health systems for Baxter and NxStage technologies. Patients receive training to perform dialysis treatments autonomously in their homes, with PD training spanning 7-10 days and HHD training extending from 4-6 weeks. Home team members schedule monthly clinic visits for all home patients, coordinating interdisciplinary team consultations and lab work for PD patients. Our dedicated team also facilitates patient education and coordinates referrals to transplant services as requested by patients.

The clinic operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM for patient care, with some flexibility to address clinic needs. Home nurses participate in after-hours on-call rotations, including weekends. The home clinic is generally closed during most weekends and holidays, contingent upon training or clinical needs.

We are excited to offer a $2,000 sign-on bonus for certified dialysis clinical technicians as we seek to enhance our team with a skilled and compassionate Clinical Dialysis Technician. Ideal candidates will possess a robust background in patient care and a commitment to supporting individuals with kidney disease. In this pivotal role, you will provide essential dialysis treatments and ensure the well-being of our patients.

This full-time position entails a schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week, with a shared rotation for weekends and holidays.

General Responsibilities:

  • Administer dialysis treatments in accordance with established protocols and physician directives.
  • Monitor patient vitals during treatment, responding promptly to any changes in condition.
  • Set up and operate dialysis machines, performing routine maintenance and addressing technical issues as necessary.
  • Administer prescribed medications and intravenous fluids under the supervision of a physician.
  • Provide education to patients and their families regarding dialysis protocols, dietary guidelines, and self-care practices.
  • Maintain comprehensive medical records, documenting treatment activities and patient progress accurately.
  • Uphold strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards within the dialysis unit.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and pursue ongoing education to enhance professional skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; completion of a dialysis technician training program is preferred.
  • Certification as a dialysis technician must be obtained (and maintained) within 18 months of employment, per federal regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic clinical environment.
  • A compassionate, empathetic approach with a dedication to providing high-quality patient care.
