The Haul Driver – CDL-A position involves utilizing a Commercial Driver’s License to operate a commercial vehicle for the purpose of delivering vehicles. Working closely with the dispatch team, you will be responsible for completing assigned tasks. This is a long-haul driving position requiring a commitment to up to four days of travel each week, transporting vehicles to dealerships across various states throughout the country.
As a Haul Driver – CDL-A, your responsibilities will include:
– Operating a commercial vehicle in strict compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
– Loading and securing vehicles to ensure safe transport.
– Conducting daily inspections of vehicles for mechanical and safety issues, including checking fluid levels.
– Planning routes and adhering to delivery schedules.
– Documenting and logging all work and rest periods, as well as miles driven, utilizing an electronic logging device (ELD) or paper log when necessary.
– Retaining fuel, toll, and hotel logs along with receipts.
– Ensuring compliance with all DOT rules and regulations.
– Maneuvering trucks into loading or unloading positions.
– Reporting any defects, accidents, or violations immediately.
To qualify for the role of Haul Driver – CDL-A, candidates must possess:
– A High School diploma or equivalent.
– A Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
– An exemplary motor vehicle driving record.
– U.S. citizenship or status as a U.S. person suitable for compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
– Proficiency in operating manual transmission vehicles.
– The ability to pass a DOT physical examination, background check, and drug screening.
– Strong verbal and written communication skills.
– The ability to travel for extended periods, utilizing a sleeper cab.
– A thorough understanding of DOT rules and regulations, including hours of service (HOS) limitations.
Additionally, a successful candidate may have:
– Previous experience in car hauling.
