The Farmington Hills, MI site, established in 2005, features a state-of-the-art 50,000 square foot facility employing approximately 150 professionals. Our primary focus is on plasma spray coating (HA, TPS) for orthopedic implants used in the spine and large joints, promoting longer, more active lives. Shift: DET – Shift 1
Position Overview
The Operations Technician in Blasting is responsible for inspecting incoming products and determining their suitability for further processing. This role involves strategically applying protective tape to designated areas before blasting, as well as subsequently removing and re-taping products for the coating procedure. The position emphasizes craftsmanship and a meticulous attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete all required training and compliance.
- Utilize hand trucks, pallet jacks, carts, and tables for safe product transportation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the workspace, tools, and equipment.
- Identify and report any faulty equipment or defective materials to the department Supervisor or Lead.
- Adhere to established safety protocols and regulations.
- Actively participate in Lean Manufacturing and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using various precision tools, including calipers, comparators, pin gauges, and surface plates, as needed.
- Execute weekly housekeeping tasks according to the 5S schedule.
- Strictly follow work orders to conduct operations on diverse components and products.
- Uphold safety standards by demonstrating proper operational practices and reporting any safety concerns to the Supervisor.
- Ensure adherence to quality and compliance by following all procedures, work instructions, and documentation in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Employ fine motor skills and keen eyesight for product inspection, application of protective tape as per customer specifications, blasting, and final product preparation before coating.
- Perform final inspections and unmasks after the coating process, ensuring all products are ready for the Final Inspection area.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Preferred)
Experience Qualifications
- No previous work experience required (Preferred)
- Experience in manufacturing (Preferred)
- Familiarity with FDA regulatory environments (Preferred)
Knowledge & Skills for Success
