Position Summary
The Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving food, including texture-modified and therapeutic diets, in accordance with facility menus and relevant federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. This role entails ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures to guarantee quality dining services, as directed by the Dining Services Director. Additional responsibilities include assisting with proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning procedures. In the absence of the Dining Services Director, the Cook may support the Dietary Aide as necessary and provide direction to other employees, with appropriate approval.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety: Utilize protective gear for all relevant tasks and ensure safe mixing and use of cleaning solutions, adhering to all established safety precautions. Report equipment and cleaning product needs or malfunctions promptly.
  • Punctuality: Consistently maintain attendance and arrive on time. Complete assigned cleaning tasks according to schedule and respond promptly to paging alerts.
  • Customer Experience: Represent HCSG positively by following instructions and maintaining courteous cooperation with supervisors, co-workers, and client staff.
  • Resident Experience: Engage in positive and respectful interactions with residents, staff, and facility guests.

Qualifications

  • A positive attitude and ability to follow both oral and written instructions while performing routine, repetitive tasks daily.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to accomplish responsibilities independently after appropriate training, while ensuring safety for oneself and others.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, with food preparation experience being an advantage. Completion of a sanitation and safety course may be required.
  • A current ServSafe or Food Handler certification is mandatory, in accordance with State/County law.
  • Must demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies is required, as mandated by State, Local, and/or Customer policies.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, sitting, bending, and walking for extended periods.
  • Capability to perform routine, repetitive tasks continuously and work near food and cleaning products.
  • Must reside within the service area.
