The Farmington Hills, MI facility, established in 2005, spans 50,000 square feet and employs approximately 150 team members. The Operations Technician, Blasting, plays a crucial role in the product inspection process, assessing incoming products to approve or reject them based on quality standards. Responsibilities include applying protective materials to areas designated to remain coating-free, conducting blasting operations, and ensuring products are properly prepared for the subsequent coating process. This position demands meticulous craftsmanship and a keen attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete all required training programs.
  • Safely transport products using hand trucks, pallet jacks, and carts.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including tools and equipment.
  • Identify and report any faulty equipment, defective materials, or other irregularities to the department Supervisor or Lead.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections using tools such as calipers, comparators, pin gauges, and measuring instruments as needed.
  • Execute weekly housekeeping tasks as per the 5S schedule.
  • Follow work orders to perform operations on various parts and products.
  • Promote safety expectations and ensure compliance with safe operating practices.
  • Support quality assurance and compliance by adhering to the Quality Management Systems (QMS) protocols.
  • Utilize fine motor skills and sharp eyesight to inspect incoming products, apply protective tape, conduct blasting, and prepare products for the coating operation.
  • Perform final inspection and unmasks the product after the coating operation before transitioning it to the Final Inspection area.

Educational Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience Qualifications:

  • Previous work experience is preferred but not required.
  • Manufacturing experience is favored.
  • Experience in an FDA-regulated environment is advantageous.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Proficient in time management and quality inspection using metrology tools.
  • Familiar with standard operating procedures and quality management principles.
  • Basic mathematical skills and knowledge of manufacturing safety practices.
  • Strong hand dexterity and capability for detailed data entry.
  • Effective communication skills and basic knowledge of blueprint reading.
  • Proven ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail with problem-solving skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Occasional movement within the building and handling of equipment is required.
  • Must effectively communicate and exchange information with team members.
  • Responsibilities include repetitive handling, adjusting, and inspecting items and equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to occasional noise.
