The Farmington Hills, MI facility, established in 2005, spans 50,000 square feet and employs approximately 150 dedicated team members. Overview
The Operations Technician, Blasting is responsible for inspecting incoming products and determining their approval status. This role entails applying protective tape to designated areas, performing blasting operations on coatings, and subsequently preparing products for the coating process. Candidates must demonstrate hands-on craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Complete all required training initiatives.
- Safely transport products using hand trucks, pallet jacks, carts, and tables.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, tools, and equipment.
- Detect and report faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to the department Supervisor or Lead.
- Adhere to all designated safety rules and regulations.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and EHS initiatives.
- Perform dimensional inspections using various tools, including calipers, comparators, pin gauges, and surface plates as required.
- Conduct weekly housekeeping tasks according to the 5S schedule.
- Follow work orders to execute operations on various parts and products.
- Reinforce safety expectations and ensure safe operating practices are upheld, reporting any issues or concerns to the Supervisor.
- Support quality and compliance by following all procedures, work instructions, and forms in accordance with the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Use fine motor skills and keen eyesight to inspect incoming products, apply tape as per customer specifications, perform blasting operations, and prepare products for coating.
- After the coating process, conduct a final inspection and unmasking of the product before sending it to the Final Inspection area.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Experience Qualifications
- No prior work experience is required (preferred).
- Previous manufacturing experience (preferred).
- Familiarity with FDA regulatory environments (preferred).
