Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineers are integral to Ford Motor Company’s North American Engineering organization and operate directly within the Vehicle Assembly Plant alongside production teams. The PVT Engineer serves as the primary line of defense regarding functional system quality for products manufactured at the assembly plant. This role entails several responsibilities focused on analyzing and addressing quality concerns related to components received at the assembly plant, as well as processes within the Vehicle Assembly Plant and integrated remote build centers.

Responsibilities include:
– Collaborating with the Body Exterior engineering team to achieve quality objectives, with a strong emphasis on Body in White and sheet metal.
– Performing daily reviews of incoming warranty claims data, assessing customer and dealership feedback, and categorizing claims accurately.
– Liaising with dealerships for parts and repair diagnostics, while actively engaging in customer callbacks to ensure comprehensive understanding of feedback.
– Conducting root cause analyses on returned parts and formulating both Interim Containment and Permanent Corrective Actions.

In this role, you will:
– Assist the assembly plant with Stop Ships/Stop Builds, campaigns, audits, root cause analysis, and other quality-related tasks.
– Lead engineering changes for future minor product launches and spearhead cost-reduction initiatives for current production vehicles.
– Collaborate with the Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for specific subsystems and work closely with supplier partners to address quality issues.
– Lead engineering trials and oversee the implementation of running changes for subsystems.
– Issue engineering alerts and initiate the authorization of engineering concerns to support quality objectives.
– Engage technical experts and cross-functional teams to resolve issues and formulate corrective actions that enhance product quality.
– Maintain Quality documentation at the subsystems and/or Vehicle Functional Group (VFG) levels.
– Prepare presentations for senior management at various levels (including weekly VRT updates and Vehicle Quality Reviews) and review outcomes.

Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
– A minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive manufacturing sector.
– At least 2 years of experience with sheet metal fabrication.

Preferred qualifications include:
– Six Sigma Black Belt training.
– Exceptional teamwork, leadership, and presentation skills.
