Position Purpose:
Warehouse associates play a crucial role in our company’s success. They actively, safely, and independently maintain an efficient flow of products through our distribution process, all while upholding quality standards. As a Forklift Operator (Non-Formula), you will operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and reach trucks. The Forklift Operator is responsible for transporting incoming freight from staging areas to inventory, storing it in designated locations on multi-level racks, and promptly replenishing pick slots while ensuring compliance with safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and quality standards. The role requires functioning as a collaborative team member within the department and organization, performing any duties assigned to best serve the company.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
– Locating appropriate slots on storage racks, setting pallets in place using a forklift, or hand-stacking items, and entering product data and locations into the designated system. Conducting count checks of incoming freight in the staging area and transporting it to the freezer utilizing a forklift or pallet jack.
– Replenishing pick slots with outgoing stock according to next-day work orders, rotating date-sensitive stock to ensure freshness, and removing outdated inventory in accordance with company policy.
– Distributing overstocked items to available slots for temporary storage.
– Removing empty pallets, cardboard packing, and strapping to designated areas or receptacles.
– Inspecting empty pallets for damage and stacking or moving them to the appropriate storage area using a pallet jack or forklift.
– Adhering to all preferred work methods, safety policies, and procedures as outlined by the company.
– Maintaining a safe work area and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or actions.
– Reviewing the work schedule, conducting safety checks on equipment, gathering necessary supplies, and preparing for operations.
– Wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety gear.
– Meeting productivity and accuracy standards as per location and company guidelines.
– Working from receiving sheets, computer printouts, established procedures, and written or verbal instructions. Inspecting items for damage, performing temperature and quality checks, and taking appropriate action as needed.
– Carrying out general housekeeping duties in the work area as required.
– Removing batteries that require recharging, replacing them with charged batteries, and completing the vehicle inspection checklist.
– Securing all equipment and completing necessary documentation at the end of the shift.
– Performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
– High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
– A minimum of 6 months of experience in warehouse and/or distribution settings.
– Ability to adhere to scheduled and assigned work times, including required overtime.
– Capacity to stand, walk, reach, and lift repeatedly throughout the shift.
– Ability to lift, stack, and/or pull products weighing between 10-35 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 90 pounds, depending on the location.
– Willingness to work in multi-temperature environments, including cooler and freezer areas.
– Successful completion of a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
– High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
– Over 1 year of experience in warehouse and/or distribution settings, with experience using a motorized pallet jack or forklift.
– Background in foodservice distribution or related industries.
– Certification for operating motorized pallet jacks and/or forklifts.
