General Summary
This role entails providing operational maintenance services across all plant departments, which includes the installation, monitoring, maintenance, repair, and modification of electro-mechanical systems and equipment. The Plant Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of these systems and equipment throughout the facility, encompassing both production and support areas, while adhering to established procedures and work instructions.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Troubleshoot, repair, and install low and high voltage (single/three phase) industrial electro-mechanical and control systems for utility and production equipment.
  2. Identify and upgrade outdated or unsafe electro-mechanical installations.
  3. Assist in the development, implementation, repair, and maintenance of plant equipment.
  4. Provide support to machine operators.
  5. Document existing and new equipment, including control and power system installations.
  6. Conduct system start-ups and operational checkouts, which include configuration, wiring, calibration, grounding, and power testing.
  7. Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections.
  8. Specify, organize, and maintain adequate spare parts for control and instrumentation systems.
  9. Order, modify, design, and fabricate replacement parts as necessary.
  10. Utilize technical materials, such as equipment manuals, schematics, MSDS, safety documents, system drawings, and P&ID diagrams to effectively troubleshoot and maintain systems.
  11. Ensure efficient use of consumables.
  12. Adhere to all quality standards, including HACCP and Safe Quality Food protocols.
  13. Participate in cross-functional improvement teams.
  14. Engage in the Root Cause Analysis process using tools such as the 5-Why method and other problem-solving techniques.
  15. Maintain a clean work area according to 5S standards.
  16. Follow all safety regulations.
  17. Execute any additional responsibilities as assigned by supervision.

Job Specifications
Education and Experience
An Associate Degree or actively pursuing a technical degree in Electricity, Electronics, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience, with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and technological advancement, will also be considered. Continuous education is expected, and progression should be evident.

Licenses/Certifications
Forklift Operator Certification is required.

Language Skills
The ability to read and understand technical instructions is essential, along with the capability to compose correspondence and memos. Effective communication with colleagues at all levels is important.
