Job description:

MediaNews Group is looking for a dedicated Accounts Receivable Specialist to become part of our dynamic team. This role will focus on credit and collections activities while also providing support in billing, cash receipts, and various accounting tasks as necessary. The standard work schedule is from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of occasional overtime and weekend work.

Please note that this position is fully remote; however, candidates must reside in Ohio or Colorado.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and customer accounts to minimize instances of past due accounts.
  • Conduct customer credit analysis as required.
  • Initiate collection communications through calls, emails, faxes, and letters.
  • Collaborate with Circulation and Advertising Managers to escalate collection actions when necessary.
  • Distribute accounts receivable aging reports and address any related concerns with Circulation and Advertising Managers.
  • Utilize and maintain accounts receivable collections modules within Circulation and Advertising systems.
  • Perform revenue and trend analysis for customer accounts and accounts receivable.
  • Demonstrate initiative to refine operational procedures while exercising tact and diplomacy in client servicing and communication.
  • Uphold ethical standards in all interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to analyze and resolve issues with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of accounting processes and controls.
  • Strong sense of urgency coupled with an attention to detail.
  • Proficient in creating Excel spreadsheets utilizing formulas, as well as strong proficiency with 10-key data entry.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, initiative, and focus on detail.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, teamwork capabilities, and excellent customer service orientation.
  • Familiarity with automated collections, accounts receivable, and accounting systems is preferred.
  • GED or high school diploma required; an Associate’s degree is preferred.

The hourly wage for this position is $17.75, with pay determined by several factors including education, work experience, tenure in the role, certifications, and more.
