Job description:
This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of an individual retail store, either in collaboration with or in the absence of the Store Director. The essential duties include ensuring that all departments are fully staffed, properly trained, and aligned with company standards. The role encompasses fostering a positive, high-performing, and customer-focused culture through effective leadership. Additionally, it involves assisting in monitoring financial aspects of the store, maintaining facility standards, and implementing corporate strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
– Aid the Store Director in comprehensive retail management, encompassing staffing, training, performance evaluation, and career development for associates, while also setting and tracking departmental goals.
– Formulate and oversee department budgets as necessary.
– Exhibit effective leadership to develop a positive, customer-oriented store environment.
– Contribute to the store’s financial performance by focusing on budgeted sales, gross profit, and managing controllable expenses.
– Conduct regular follow-ups with department managers to ensure adherence to financial targets in terms of sales and profits.
– Support department managers in analyzing data and formulating actionable plans to meet departmental goals.
– Coordinate store operations to ensure compliance with various standards such as Safety/Food Safety, Human Resources, Merchandising, Loss Prevention, and OSHA regulations.
– Oversee adherence to corporate merchandising and inventory protocols, collaborating with corporate partners as required to ensure clarity and compliance in operations.
– Implement and maintain work schedules, labor control initiatives, and payroll expense management.
– Drive the execution of the OWN IT! service program (One customer to Wow Now by Interacting and providing Total satisfaction), setting high-performance service standards.
– Stay informed about industry trends and best practices; provide recommendations for program and process enhancements.
– Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs.
Qualifications:
– A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field is preferred, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
– A minimum of three years of experience in a retail grocery environment with progressive responsibilities.
– At least one year of experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity within a retail setting.
– Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
– Strong organizational, prioritization, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict management skills.
– Demonstrated leadership capabilities suited for a dynamic work environment.
– Proficient strategic planning and business acumen skills.
– Comprehensive knowledge of retail operations, along with familiarity with retail management systems.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
– Depending on the location, the ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this role require the ability to perform essential functions which may include lifting or moving up to 20 pounds. The position necessitates frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Typically, the work environment is office-based, with minimal exposure to outdoor conditions. Temperature variability may occur in certain areas such as the computer/server room, production area, or print shop.
