In this pivotal role as an Associate Chemist, based at our Tipp City, OH facility within the Abbott Nutrition division, you will contribute to the development of science-based nutrition products that support individuals of all ages—from infants to adults. The Tipp City facility is one of Abbott’s newest nutrition manufacturing plants and features advanced technology designed to optimize production efficiency and elevate product quality. This onsite position offers significant opportunities for professional advancement within the Quality Lab; however, relocation is not available. Key responsibilities include:
– Performing raw ingredient analyses, which include simple titrations and identity checks.
– Conducting both in-process and finished product testing, including vitamin, protein, mineral analyses, and various other analytical techniques.
– Standardizing test and check can methodologies, as well as conducting physical tests such as pH, viscosity, and sensory evaluations.
– Implementing batch adjustments and generating the necessary documentation for corrections and optimizations.
– Performing special testing as required, adhering to certification or validation protocols, and supporting investigations related to testing discrepancies.
– Observing all safety protocols and promptly reporting any incidents or spills to the appropriate personnel.
– Completing project assignments from management, which may involve troubleshooting analytical equipment, maintaining documentation, and collaborating with vendors and plant personnel.
– Ensuring an adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and training new chemists on laboratory operations and safety practices.
– Executing control sample analyses and maintaining compliance with standardization, maintenance, and testing schedules.
You will also be accountable for adhering to compliance standards, including FDA and OSHA regulations as well as Abbott policies and procedures.
Shift Details:
This position operates on a night shift schedule from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM EST, providing you with every other weekend off. A sign-on bonus of $3,000 is offered.

Required Qualifications:
– High school diploma or equivalent.
– At least one year of college-level science coursework (e.g., chemistry) with accompanying lab experience, in addition to one year of college mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus), or a Bachelor’s degree in a science or technical discipline.
– Capability to conduct sensory testing, including evaluating the flavor, texture, and aroma of products.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a related discipline.
– Proficient in following verbal and written instructions, preparing simple reports, and utilizing knowledge of chemistry with minimal supervision.
– Strong mathematical skills, including basic arithmetic and fractions, along with foundational computer skills and statistical comprehension.
– Excellent communication abilities to engage effectively with colleagues across varying experience levels, while balancing quality assurance and manufacturing objectives.
