GENERAL PURPOSE
At Herman Miller, human-centered problem-solving design is the essence of our work. As an Associate Digital Product Designer, you will collaborate within a cross-functional agile team that includes designers, developers, and product managers. Together, you will innovate and deliver elegant, straightforward solutions to complex challenges, with an unwavering focus on the customer. Product Designers play a strategic role throughout all phases of a product’s life cycle. You will support our product design team in various capacities, including participation in design sprints, creating wireframes, developing high-fidelity compositions, conducting qualitative research, and overseeing detailed asset production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
– Conduct user research and compile findings.
– Contribute to the documentation of product design standards and best practices.
– Create efficient workflows for asset production.
– Design and analyze the user experience of features in our digital products.
– Provide and solicit feedback from fellow designers to enhance quality continuously.
– Collaborate with analytics team members to refine customer experiences based on data-driven insights.
– Regularly contribute to Herman Miller’s Design System.
– Possess a robust understanding of visual design, user-centered experience design, interaction design, and brand development.
– Assist the team in designing user experiences for features within our digital products.
– Transform broad, conceptual ideas into functional products that resonate with customers.
– Utilize modern design and prototyping tools to create intuitive user flows and aesthetically pleasing experiences.
– Employ qualitative research and quantitative insights to address customer challenges.
– Engage with all areas of the product team, including engineering and product management, to collaboratively develop and advance strategy.
– Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to meet business objectives.

Education/Experience

– A minimum of 1 year of experience in visual design, interaction design, and strategic product thinking.
– A portfolio website showcasing interaction design, product design, or digital marketing examples is required.
– Familiarity with modern design and prototyping tools.
– Experience translating business and creative strategies into effective digital communications.
Skills and Abilities
– Proven track record of implementing user-centered design solutions.
– Ability to navigate ambiguity, work autonomously, and manage multiple tasks in an agile environment.
– Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including professional presentation abilities.
