The primary objective of our Commercial Strategy Team is to spearhead the development and execution of our commercial business plan for our Cereal brands in the U.S. This involves fostering cross-functional collaboration, enhancing connectivity with Sales, and seamlessly integrating customer feedback. As the Associate Manager for Commercial Strategy Innovation, you will play an instrumental role in actualizing our Customer Business plans by developing and deploying Integrated Retail Concepts (IRCs), displays, plannable material codes, and food/graphic samples. Furthermore, you will present innovations to customers and report on performance to leadership.

This is a hybrid role, requiring the incumbent to reside within sixty miles of our Battle Creek, Michigan headquarters. Some travel is necessary, with expectations of up to 25%.

Responsibilities include:

Project Leadership for Customer Business Plans:

  • Act as the innovation team lead for WKKC’s Annual Customer Business Plan, orchestrating a collaborative cross-functional initiative semi-annually for grocery and mass customers.
  • Strategically design, activate, and deploy display vehicles by leveraging systems and market results, in partnership with the sales field and supply chain, while effectively managing project timelines.
  • Develop project scopes for new product requests and ensure system alignment with project timelines.
  • Maintain current information on sales materials related to Customer Business Plans.

Customer Presentations, Sales Analytics, and Storytelling:

  • Create meaningful customer presentations in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, category management, marketing, finance, and revenue management.
  • Formulate customer sales strategies and present them to clients with the goal of achieving mutually beneficial volume objectives, promotional plans, and value propositions.
  • Engage in joint business planning and support ongoing activities aligned with the plan throughout the year.
  • Maintain and enhance weekly and monthly tracking reports, encompassing sales trends, promotional performances, and analyses of new items.
  • Develop and present ad-hoc business reports to address timely inquiries and facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Deliver data in a clear, concise, and visually compelling manner to both internal and external stakeholders.

Vendor and Agency Management:

  • Lead the development and deployment of IRCs semi-annually by collaborating with finance, supply chain, and sales leads.
  • Oversee the innovation sales sample process, including budget management and vendor relations, to ensure the WKKC sales teams are equipped for successful sell-in.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • A minimum of 2+ years of experience in CPG Sales or Marketing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create pivot tables and use V-Lookup, alongside other advanced applications.
  • Experience in an analytical role, utilizing data sources such as Nielsen, IRI/Circana, Excel, Shipment Data, and Point of Sale (POS) data is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with advanced expertise in Excel and experience in creating PowerPoint presentations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while adhering to deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in CPG sales and marketing roles.
  • Direct customer selling experience.
  • Demonstrated strategic, creative, and executional thinking in developing commercial strategies, tactics, and initiatives for various channels.
  • Ability to craft and present compelling narratives utilizing fact-based content and visualizations for external customers.

Compensation Insights:

  • Salary Range: $88,600.00 – $116,400.00.
  • This position is eligible for bonuses.
