Job description:
DIRECT HIRE. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in powertrain automation.
This role involves working within the applications engineering team, focusing on powertrain automation systems and equipment. The primary customers will include major OEM businesses such as GM, Ford, and Stellantis. The selected candidate will play a vital role in pursuing new business opportunities and cultivating relationships with clients. Responsibilities will include accurately quoting and bidding on projects. A comprehensive understanding of automation lines and retooling projects is essential for determining project requirements, as well as the technical expertise to create designs and prepare quotes. Projects typically involve significant investment, ranging from $500,000 to several million dollars. A foundational understanding of controls engineering and manufacturing processes related to powertrain production—encompassing transmissions, engines, and their components—is necessary. These processes may include gripping, pressing, screwing, gluing, and various other methods, often incorporating robotics.
This position entails extensive customer interaction and collaboration with vendors. The candidate must demonstrate the capability to think critically and articulate insights during meetings. It is crucial to assess quotations to determine their reasonableness and to formulate competitive bids.
The responsibilities will include selecting equipment, liaising with vendors for pricing, and composing comprehensive proposals that detail all Bill of Materials (BOMs) and engineering procedures and functions.
