The Salon Development Partner (SDP) plays a pivotal role in fostering the growth of Aveda Salons by advocating the Aveda lifestyle, mentoring salon leadership, and driving the achievement of sales and revenue objectives. This position is responsible for executing brand initiatives, enhancing brand equity, and overseeing product sales, inventory, and service offerings. The SDP cultivates robust relationships with salon owners, hairdressers, and spa therapists through adept account management, event support, and efficient territory routing. Additionally, the SDP facilitates the launch and training of new salons, conducts in-salon training sessions, and evaluates team performance. Providing insightful feedback on sales, creating growth strategies, and recruiting new salons into the brand portfolio are also key responsibilities.
In-Field Time Allocation (80% of Role)
- Identify and secure new business opportunities to enhance market share.
- Foster salon team development through personalized engagement, regular quality assessments, and product training.
- Attain sales and productivity targets while leading quarterly Salon Opportunity Action Planning with salon partners.
- Manage and influence salon teams to maximize product and service sell-through, ensuring high-quality customer service and measuring sales performance metrics.
- Leverage in-depth understanding of sales dynamics, product knowledge, events, and the salon sector to augment business progress.
- Capture consumer insights, sales trends, and traffic patterns to inform optimization of field operations.
- Evaluate the application of skills and techniques imparted to staff and their impact on overall sales performance.
- Provide constructive feedback to salon partners regarding operational performance.
- Communicate key objectives related to sales and client engagement strategies.
- Proactively address inventory and stock challenges that may affect business outcomes.
- Collaborate with salons and institutes to organize in-salon events that drive effective execution of the marketing calendar.
- Engage in consumer-facing side-by-side selling to enhance conversion rates through comprehensive training and education.
- Educate salon owners, operators, and artists on Aveda’s values and lifestyle.
- Deliver impactful sales training by modeling techniques and providing feedback to ensure effective application across diverse consumer profiles, including cross-selling methods.
- Promote Aveda hair color and spa treatments to boost service offerings within salons.
- Strengthen brand education by ensuring staff are knowledgeable about the brand’s mission, unique positioning, and product assortment.
- Conduct brand training for dedicated salon staff encompassing product knowledge, service experiences, sales techniques, and leadership skills.
- Maintain and expand strong relationships with both new and existing salon partners.
- Forge and sustain strategic partnerships with new salon entities to foster alignment with the company’s strategic direction.
Out-of-Field Time Allocation (20% of Role)
- Analyze business performance and establish sales targets, proactively addressing potential challenges through critical thinking, targeted KPIs, and strategic client engagement.
- Maintain consistent communication by following up on emails and calls to existing and prospective accounts.
- Create feedback mechanisms for the brand by relaying insights to central teams regarding execution, market competition, service offerings, and customer insights.
Qualifications
- 3-4 years of experience in sales management and customer development, ideally within the Salon/Beauty industry.
- Proficiency in maximizing revenue and volume in accounts through evidence-based selling techniques.
- Proven ability to establish and nurture strategic partnerships with customers and COE functions, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through exceptional service.
- Knowledgeable about activating local and national initiatives and promotions to drive brand development and performance.
- Strong understanding of sales processes, product knowledge, event management, operations, and retail culture.
- Comprehensive grasp of current trends within the salon industry.
- Capacity to identify problems and formulate action plans to resolve them, particularly regarding inventory management.
- Demonstrated history of delivering results through strategic thinking.
- A charismatic individual with strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with experience in multi-unit management.
- Availability to work during key business hours, including weekends.
- Valid driver’s license required for operating an ELC fleet vehicle.
