Job description:

Pay: $19 per hour

At Great Wolf, the Banquet Captain plays a vital role in ensuring exceptional satisfaction for event and meeting attendees. This position involves supervising a dedicated team of banquet set-up staff and servers, as well as serving food and beverages to guests. In instances where additional servers are unavailable, the Banquet Captain will take food and beverage orders personally.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead, supervise, and assist in the set-up process, which includes arranging tables and chairs, buffet and bar set-up, condiment preparation, station labeling, and anticipating beverage needs.
  • Support the Banquet Manager with administrative tasks and personnel matters such as scheduling, reviewing time clocks, managing overtime, and assisting with training and development.
  • Read and interpret Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and implement instructions provided by the Banquet Manager.
  • Facilitate departmental meetings including pre-meal and post-meal briefings.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of each event, acting as the primary contact for details.
  • Establish the Order of Service and adhere to service standards as directed, ensuring timely service throughout the event.
  • Assign service stations to banquet servers, fostering effective teamwork.
  • Ensure all assigned side-work and preparations for future events are completed prior to departure.
  • Oversee and inspect the cleanup process after all functions, ensuring all areas, dishes, equipment, and supplies are cleaned and properly stored.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous experience as a server
  • Flexibility in scheduling based on business needs
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening
