Job description:

At Great Wolf, the Banquet Manager is responsible for overseeing all components of banquet events, including setup, food presentation, service, and cleanup, with a strong emphasis on quality presentation and exceptional customer service. This role includes full supervision of banquet staff, encompassing hiring, training, coaching, disciplining, and performance reviews.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee personnel functions such as hiring, scheduling, and training banquet staff in American, French, buffet, and parade service techniques.
  • Establish performance requirements for banquet staff and implement action plans to achieve goals.
  • Monitor staff attendance in accordance with schedules, making necessary adjustments to enhance service quality during events.
  • Supervise the setup of function rooms, ensuring compliance with client specifications.
  • Manage the cleanup process and the proper breakdown and storage of equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen, service, beverage, convention services, and engineering teams, as well as guest hosts, to ensure seamless execution of events while adhering to safety, health regulations, and corporate standards.
  • Accurately process billing information using a POS system, with attention to detail.
  • Handle payroll for events, including calculating hours worked and gratuity distribution.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and linens for functions in collaboration with the Food & Beverage Director.
  • Assist servers and captains with event execution according to the event order and Great Wolf quality standards.
  • Adhere to Great Wolf’s policies for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in food and beverage.
  • In-depth knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
  • Experience ensuring a safe work environment in compliance with regulations (e.g., Ergonomics, Emergency Response, Injury and Illness Prevention, and Hazard Communication Plans).
  • Flexibility in scheduling based on business demands.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening.
