Job description:

The Banquet Server, reporting to the Banquet Captain, plays a vital role in executing all aspects of banquet service during special functions and meetings. This position is tasked with delivering attentive, friendly, courteous, and professional customer service to all guests, both internal and external, with the ongoing aim of exceeding their expectations.

Essential Functions: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)

  • Adheres to standard banquet procedures for meal service, event set-up, breakdown, and related duties.
  • Collaborates effectively with all departments to ensure seamless operations.
  • Arranges decorations and table settings in accordance with event specifications.
  • Provides food service to guests with professionalism.
  • Undertakes additional catering-related responsibilities as assigned by management.
  • Ensures compliance with regulations by not serving alcoholic beverages to minors or intoxicated guests.
  • Follows T.I.P.’s guidelines for responsible guest service.

Additional Responsibilities: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)

  • Participates in required seminars, supervisor meetings, classes, and training sessions.
  • Observes all company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.

Contacts:
The Banquet Server will regularly interact with immediate peers, staff from other departments, supervisors and managers, members of the Board of Directors, and customers.

Physical Requirements:
The position requires a medium physical effort, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and regularly lift or carry up to 25 pounds. Candidates should be prepared for constant standing, walking, pushing/pulling, as well as utilizing hearing, sense of smell, and visual acuity including near/midrange/far vision, depth perception, and color recognition. Frequent activities include lifting, carrying, stooping, reaching, manual handling, typing, and bending, alongside occasional sitting, climbing, kneeling, and crawling. Working conditions may involve regular exposure to noise and varying air quality, with frequent encounters with extreme temperatures and dim lighting. There is also potential exposure to weather conditions, humidity, vibrations, and hazards such as moving mechanical parts, electric shock, chemicals, and equipment.

Requirements:

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience: Prior restaurant or catering experience is preferred.
  • Certification/License: A Sanitation Certificate must be obtained within six months of hire, with training provided. T.I.P.’s Certification is required within the first three months of employment, with training provided.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Candidates must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Flexibility in scheduling is required, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays. Preference may be given to Native American applicants.
