We are currently seeking candidates for a part-time Barista position, available immediately. The position is located at Southwestern Michigan College, 58900 Cherry Grove Road, Dowagiac, MI 49047. Please note that applications will only be accepted through our online platform.

Job Summary:
The Barista will be responsible for preparing and serving coffee, espresso drinks, and related food and beverage items. Adherence to HACCP guidelines and quality standards in food service operations is essential. The role involves engaging with customers and coworkers in a friendly and courteous manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare espresso orders for customers and catering using standard measures and recipes.
  • Accurately enter orders into the POS system and process cash and card payments.
  • Replenish condiments, beverages, and supplies while maintaining a clean service area.
  • Ensure appropriate presentation, portion control, and adherence to serving temperatures in alignment with HACCP standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order of all equipment, supplies, and utensils.
  • Follow approved recipes and prescribed production standards for food preparation.
  • Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during service.
  • Thoroughly clean the equipment and workstation before transitioning to other assignments.
  • Greet customers courteously, ensuring their satisfaction, and communicate any relevant customer concerns to supervisors.
  • Serve customers efficiently to minimize delays in service.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of daily menu items and provide accurate explanations to customers.
  • Employ effective selling techniques by establishing good communication with customers to assist in their decision-making process.
  • Ensure that all display foods are presented attractively according to standards and serve food neatly.
  • Execute any additional duties as assigned.
