Job description:

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for an immediate opening for the position of Barista at our Oakland University location.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee and espresso beverages, along with related food and beverage items, while adhering to HACCP guidelines and quality standards in food service operations. You will be expected to engage with customers and colleagues in a friendly, professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare espresso orders for customers and catering using standard measurements and recipes.
  • Accurately enter orders into the POS system and process cash and credit transactions.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the service area by replenishing condiments, beverages, and general supplies.
  • Follow HACCP standards to ensure proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures.
  • Maintain sanitation and organization of all equipment, supplies, and utensils.
  • Utilize approved recipes and adhere to production standards for food preparation.
  • Keep display equipment clean and free from debris during meal service.
  • Thoroughly clean equipment and workstation before transitioning to other assignments.
  • Greet and assist customers courteously, ensuring their satisfaction by addressing any concerns with a supervisor.
  • Serve customers efficiently to minimize delays in service.
  • Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of daily menu items and effectively communicate this information to customers.
  • Employ effective selling techniques to assist customers in their purchasing decisions.
  • Present display foods attractively in accordance with established standards.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
