Job description:

Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea is in search of dedicated Baristas who take pleasure in engaging with customers and crafting high-quality coffee, espresso, and tea beverages. As a well-established premium coffeehouse brand, we have proudly served our community for over 29 years, with our latest location conveniently situated inside the Michigan Union, providing easy access for residents of West and South Quad.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare coffee, tea, and espresso drinks in accordance with Sweetwaters’ standards, ensuring efficiency and quality.
  • Deliver friendly, accurate, and prompt service to all guests.
  • Adhere to precise cash handling procedures and maintain integrity in financial transactions.
  • Keep the café clean, organized, and welcoming at all times.
  • Stay informed about our offerings in coffee, tea, and other products to effectively communicate with customers.

Training Offered:
Barista training will be provided to candidates who successfully complete the New Team Member orientation.

Educational Opportunities:
There is potential for promotion to management training for individuals who demonstrate the necessary skills and commitment.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong customer service skills and a genuine enjoyment of coffee or tea are essential. Food service experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A positive attitude with a sense of humor, thriving in a collaborative environment.
  • Availability for a minimum of 15 hours per week, including at least two shifts on weekends.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Capability to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Prior experience with cash handling and register systems is advantageous.
  • A passion for delivering authentic, upbeat customer service.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly wage of $15.00 to $15.50, inclusive of tips, with an increased rate for those working 30 or more hours per week.
